Hello, fellow learners and readers! What a whirlwind week it has been! My spouse and I made a tough decision: we cut our vacation short and jumped right into our 2026 goals and projects. Once the plane landed back home, I knew that my health and growth-learning goals journey would officially begin. Sure, it might sound cliché to start the year with a health resolution, but sometimes, embracing a fresh start is precisely what we need to reignite our passion for growth. Naima Wells, Director for Administrative Assessment at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, highlights in her inspiring article that adult learners thrive and persist when surrounded by positivity and encouragement. This idea resonates with a book currently fueling my motivation—Atomic Habits by James Clear. His insights on building environments that nurture positive, transformative habits have prompted me to reflect deeply on my current decisions and the environments I create. Needless to say, if I wanted to see any changes in my life, I would need to take action. If you are looking for something to read, I highly recommend James Clear’s book Atomic Habits. So, here’s what I did.

I dove headfirst into a fresh environment designed to spark positive change and propel me towards my goals. My first step? Joining my local community gym—a new space that is buzzing with people of all ages, all striving to become their healthiest selves. The excitement was contagious from the moment I arrived! After a quick orientation on the gym’s facilities and my membership perks, I tucked away my things. I immediately caught snippets of encouragement swirling through the locker room and gym spaces. Those uplifting words from fellow gym-goers reminded me that a healthier lifestyle matters, and I’m not the only one on this journey. When I started my workout routine, I eased in with 45 minutes on the treadmill—an empowering return after a long break from exercise. In just one week, I’ve hit the gym four times! On top of that, I’ve been tracking my meals and calories with Weight Watchers. The result? I’m thrilled to share I’ve already lost 9.2 pounds! Seeing these early wins has supercharged my motivation, and I know that my actions are producing positive results. Until next week!
